Let's Get Slippery! My Five Favorite Oils for Beauty, Health and Self-Care

Anybody who knows me knows I love oils, especially ones I can use for vain self-care purposes. So I made a list of my faves, to get you started on your oil-fanatic journey so you can be as weird and oily as I am!
  1. Castor oil.  It works great to remove tiredness from around your eyes if you just rub a little around your eyes and even on your eyelashes. Be careful not to get it in your eyes. You can rub a little castor oil into your scalp and massage it in to alleviate flakes and itchiness. This can also help with hair growth and thickening the hair. You can also massage it into areas of arthritic pain to relieve it a little bit. It makes a great laxative if you mix it into some juice. It's also great for your skin! It can heal acne and acne scars (not recommended, though, if your skin is naturally oily, as the excess oil could just break you out more) and it can help scratches and rashes to heal up quicker.
  2. Coconut oil. I literally use coconut oil for eeeeeverything. Makeup remover. Hair mask. Personal lubricant *wink wink.* Cuticle butter. Put it on your feet and then cover them with socks and go to bed for silky af feet in the morning. Put it in the bathtub. Use it as shaving cream. Smear some on your flyaway hairs to tame them. Peeling skin from a sunburn? Put some coconut oil on it. LITERALLY DO ANYTHING WITH IT, it's a game changer.
  3. Grapeseed oil. Similar to coconut oil, this oil is great as lubricant, as well as for skincare. It's a really rich and nourishing oil so dilute and use sparingly. But, this oil is amazing for hair growth and health. I put it on my hair every night for a week, slept with it in and showered in the morning, and my hair grew half an inch in one week.
  4. Tea tree oil. My absolute favorite use for this oil is to dry out/shrink/eliminate a pimple. It kills bacteria like nobody's business. The smell of tea tree oil also happens to be my favorite smell in the universe. Mm, earthy spicy goodness.
  5. Jojoba oil. You can use this liquid gold for lots of things, but my favorite way to use it is on my nails, because it makes them grow longer, faster and stronger. My nails are prone to peeling, and I have found that jojoba helps so much. The reason behind this is that jojoba oil is actually a wax, and it fuses the individual layers of your nail together so that they don't peel. Did you know that your nail plate basically has the same structure as a croissant? It's made up of very thin layers that can peel, but using a waxy oil helps cement them all together.
